Residence permit for IT and remote work in Georgia

We prepare residence permit applications for people who work in IT or remotely: review the basis, assemble the set, file and run the case through to the decision.

"Remote work" is not a basis in itself - the basis is a specific arrangement: employment, entrepreneurship or another ground. That review is where the work starts: the set and the tax consequences both follow from the choice.

What the work covers

• Reviewing the arrangement. Who you work for, where the client is, how and where you are paid, whether you have a company or sole trader status.
• Choosing the basis among those that apply. Often there are several, and they are not equivalent in their consequences.
• Checking your current status and dates of lawful stay.
• Evidencing income - we choose how to show it so that the authority accepts it.
• The document set, translations and notarial certification.
• Filing and running the case through to the decision.
• Working with a refusal - reading the wording and choosing the way forward.

About tax

A residence permit and tax residency are different things. Getting the status does not automatically make you a Georgian tax resident and does not cancel your obligations where you are resident now. If residency is the actual goal, that is a separate review.

What is not included

• The decision itself. It rests with the state authority. Nobody, ourselves included, can guarantee it, and we make no promises of that kind.
• The state fee. Paid separately; its size depends on the processing time you choose.
• Obtaining documents in another country where they are issued only to the applicant in person.
• Medical insurance, where required - you arrange it.
• The applicant's own steps: attendance, biometrics.

What you will need

• Your passport - every completed page.
• All current and previous Georgian documents: residence permit, ID card, certificates.
• A timeline of entries and exits over recent years.
• Proof of where you live in Georgia.
• Documents on your income and its source.
• Family members' documents for a joint application.
• Any previous refusals and the decisions on them, with dates.
• Details of what has already been apostilled and translated, and what has not.

Missing part of the set is not a reason to wait. At the review it often turns out that half of what was collected is not needed and what is needed is missing.

How the work goes

1. You describe the case - through the form, by email or in a messenger.
2. A lawyer reviews the facts: what you already have, what has to be obtained, where the weak points are.
3. We agree the scope and the price. Up to this point you pay nothing.
4. We sign a contract in which the scope of the service is set out in writing.
5. You hand over the documents, we check the set and tell you what is missing.
6. We run the procedure and keep you informed at every step.
7. You receive the result and the full set of documents.

Prices

Our fee and the state fee are counted separately.

Consultation - from $30. The price for your case is confirmed before the work starts and fixed in the contract.

What is outside our control

• The authority's decision and how long the review takes.
• Requirements for the document set: they are refined and must be checked on the filing date.
• The work of another country's authorities - certificates, apostilles, legalisation.
• Circumstances that already exist: previous refusals, breaches of stay, mismatches in documents from earlier years.

We tell you the weak points of the case before the work starts. If in our view the basis is shaky, you will hear it plainly rather than after filing.
